"MyWaterproofDeck.com is without a doubt
the best resource for waterproof decking I have encountered in many
hours of research on construction of waterproof decks. Mr. Barlow and
his associates have done a simply fantastic job describing the issues
and solutions for waterproof decking above living areas. In the twenty or so other resources I have looked
at, none even comes close to MyWaterproofDeck for easy-to-understand,
technically accurate, succinct, and detailed information. I would guess
that 10 minutes spent on Mr. Barlow’s website is worth two hours
anywhere else. Other resources can’t state the problem clearly, let
alone provide a solution. For example, in the video entitled “How do you
install it?”, Mr. Barlow provides details on what happens at the
interface between the building and the deck and the interface between
the deck and the rain gutters. I have spoken with at least five
“decking” contractors who could not drain the deck into the rain
gutters in any sensible, efficient way. Mr. Barlow describes a rain
shedding fastener as part of the basic installation! Perfect! In his first video, entitled “Home Page”, Grant
Barlow nails the problem when he states “In my experience, water leaks
into all homes with elevated decks, and without you even knowing it.”
Either you get this or you don’t. If you do get it, you have likely
spent a fair amount of time, as I have, trying to find or figure out a
decking system that works. After viewing Mr. Barlow’s videos, I
practically jumped out of my seat and shouted “Hurray”! Because now I
think I have a solution to my decking problem. I have about 1000 square feet of decking on a
second floor with living areas underneath. I know firsthand the truth
of Mr. Barlow’s statement “…water leaks into all homes with elevated
decks…” Based on the information I learned at Mr. Barlow’s website, I
think I can solve my problems. The only problem I have now is that my job is too
small for Mr. Barlow’s team to travel from Cleveland to Los Angeles to

CONDOMINIUM ELEVATOR FLOOR
NON-SLIP INSTALLATION
This video was shot in a four building condominum complex. I used 60 mil thick Duradek vinyl deck skin.
THE PROBLEM:
The condo management and association couldn't find a flexible, durable, non-slip floor covering so they resorted to commercial carpeting. The problem with the carpeting was it wore-out after only a couple of months.
The carpeting also was impossible to clean. It would get so bad in the wet Cleveland, Ohio environment, it would smell foul. This fact, of course, was affecting property values.
As you watch this video think about other unconventional installation projects for my vinyl waterproof deck skins. I'm sure I can custom install my product in any possible installation scenario where a durable, waterproof, maintenance-free non-slip floor would be desired.
